Happily
married for 36 years in May 06 (statistically a miracle) to her husband
described as an "off the wall "character, she has a daughter and a 17
year old grandson, who apparently inherited his grandpa's sense of
humor. When asked what makes her laugh, she giggled and named her
husband and grandson.
Jan took an early retirement from EDS. While attending a a
luncheon for the "International Association of Administrative
Professionals (IAAP), she spotted a group of "Red Hatter's." Immediately
upon arriving home, she logged on to her computer (a favorite pastime of
hers) found the nearest chapter and contacted Sue Hill. During
that conversation, Jan explained "she needed to take time to smell the
roses!" Having registered with our sensitive and caring "Queen
Mum", Sue gifted her with a rose at her first "Tea Tart" function.
You can now find Jan, dubbed "Lady Shutterfly" behind the camera
snapping our chapter's photos. One of her successfully completed
goals was to create a website -- thus she is responsible for getting the
wonderful and informative "Tea Tarts" website up and running!
Thanks Jan!
A few of her other interests include travel (Italy being her favorite
vacation), reading trashy novels, collecting music boxes, cookbooks and
trinket boxes -- however, please don't buy her any... she has enough
with nowhere else to put them!
Having said "she'll do anything for a buck," Jan occasionally works for
friends. When wanting to relax, she goes to her room (specifically
decorated for this purpose), puts her feet up, prays, listens to music
and watches television programs such as: "Everybody loves Raymond"
and "Extreme Makeovers." Her favorite movie is "Pretty Woman."
The food channel has also caught her focus since Jan loves to prepare
fancy meals for her guests. Her favorite food? Tabooleh and
hummus.
Becoming a "Red Hatter" is at the top of her list of her retirement
goals. To sum it up...Jan is a free spirit, constant goal setter
who, "lives her life to the fullest." Oh! I
almost forgot...Shhhh, Jan was quite candid to share that one of her
accomplished goals was to get a tattoo of a butterfly! She did but
the location still remains a mystery????
